Clarkston, Georgia, just on the outskirts of Atlanta is often referred to as the most diverse square mile in the United States. In the “square mile area” of Clarkston, over 60 languages are spoken. For over twenty years, thousands of refugees have been resettled by the U.S. State Department in Clarkston. Each person that is a refugee has fled their home due to racial, religious, ethnic, social, or political persecution that threatened their lives. They each seek asylum and left a life they knew and came here, to a place they could not imagine.
